GARDEN HOUSE SCHOOL
Welcome to the School
We believe in a happy and well-spent childhood.
Garden House is a joyful, vibrant, purposeful school in the heart of Chelsea for girls and boys
between the ages of 3 and 11.
From the age of 4, girls and boys are taught separately for academic lessons but have numerous
opportunities to interact and collaborate with each other during the school day, giving our
children the very best of both worlds.
We are supported by an outstanding team of dedicated teachers and assistants who recognise
and celebrate every child as an individual, enabling them to succeed. We are unashamedly
proud that Garden House staff look forward to coming to school just as much as our children.
Garden House is an extended family, and we believe a parental partnership in education is vital
to achieving our aims.
Our Kindness Code was established in 1998. It is a set of seven principles for living and working
happily and successfully with friends, teachers and the entire school community. It underpins
everything that we do, and is central to our outstanding pastoral care.
We aim to equip our children for success and happiness in their future lives through a strong
sense of self-worth. They are given the foundations to become independent, creative and
critical thinkers, to be resilient and reflective, to make mistakes and to learn from them. They
develop confidence, grace and courage. They are encouraged to take an interest in the people
around them, to be curious about their surroundings and to grasp the opportunities that life
presents, showing a desire to make a difference.
Garden House children understand and appreciate the ideals which underpin British Values.
They develop skills to communicate readily and effectively and to listen respectfully to the
views of others; acknowledging that listening is at least as important as speaking. Our pupils
appreciate the value of a team and enjoy operating as part of one, recognising how collaboration
can enhance individual performance.
Above all, they are kind.
The Garden House School Motto encapsulates this inclusive stance:
‘Non sibi sed omnibus – Not for one, for all’
