52. Class contracts, signed by pupils, are displayed in classrooms. These contracts outline behaviour
expectations, focusing on the school’s kindness code. Philosophy lessons support pupils’
understanding of right and wrong by teaching about moral responsibility, and law and order. As a
result, pupils develop their understanding of British law enforcement and the need for rules,
rewards and sanctions.
53. Staff are effective in teaching pupils how to work and play together. In the early years, children learn
how to share equipment and how to help each other when difficulties arise. Older pupils are taught
how to work in groups, both in the classroom and on the sports fields. The ‘life and culture’
programme covers topics such as friendship, enabling pupils to learn about the importance of
supporting and encouraging each other. Consequently, pupils collaborate well in the classroom and
the playground and have well-developed social skills for their age.
The extent to which the school meets Standards relating to pupils’ social and economic
education and contribution to society
